By-Laws

I. 회원 자격

A. 당 회계연도에 해당하는 회비를 납부한 회원만이 임원 선출권을 갖는 것으로, 그리고 기타 회의 또는 우편으로 다른 일을 승인할 자격이 있는 것으로 간주한다.

B. 2년에 한번 회비를 납부하며, 이전의 회비는 아래와 같다 (2006년 9월 1일 현 재):

정회원: 45,000원 ( U.S. $35.00 )
학생회원: 39,000원 ( U.S. $30.00 )
평생회원: 330,000원 ( U.S. $250.00 )

C. 3월 1일까지 회비를 납부하지 않은 회원은 자격이 보류된다.

회원 자격은 회비 납부 후 복구된다.

I. Membership

A. Only those members who have paid their current membership dues for calendar year shall be considered members in good standing with the right to vote for officers and for other matters submitted for approval at a meeting or by mail.

B. The biennial dues, which shall be reviewed as needed, are as follows (amended on August 7, 1992):

Regular member: U.S. $35.00
Student member: U.S. $30.00
Life member: U.S. $250.00

C. Members whose dues have not been paid by March 1 shall be suspended. Reinstatement to active status shall follow payment of dues.

학회장과 학회 임원은 정회원만이 될 수 있다.

The President and other officers shall be limited to regular members.

III. 학회장 선출

A. 학회의 각 회원들은 학회장 후보를 임명할 권리가 있다.

학회장은 그 후보들 중에서 회의나 전자우편 선거를 통해 회원이나 회원 대리인의 다수표를 얻은 사람이 선출된다.

B. 학회장 임기는 10월 1일에 시작한다.

III. Election of the President

A. Each member of the Circle has the right to nominate a candidate for the office of the President. The President shall be elected from the nominees at a meeting by the majority vote of members present or represented, or by a mail ballot.

B. The term of office begins October 1.

IV. 임원 부재시

학회장의 사망, 사임, 또는 활동 불가능한 경우, 부회장이 다음 정기 선거 때까지 학회 장으로 활동한다.

부회장 부재시, 학회장이 남은 임기 동안의 대리인을 지명한다.

IV. Vacancies of Officers

In case of death, resignation, or disability of the President, the Vice President shall act as President until the next regular election. In case of a vacancy in the office of vice president, the President shall appoint a replacement for the unexpired term.

V. 임원의 의무

A. 학회장은 학회 전반의 운영을 책임진다. 학회장은 학회의 관심을 증진시킬 수 있는 새로운 활동을 강구해야 한다. 학회장은 회의를 소집하고 프로그램을 계획한다.

B. 부회장은 학회장을 도와 학회장이 부여하는 여러가지 임무를 수행하고 회원을 늘리고 한국어 및 한국 언어학에 관심이 있는 학자들과 연대하기 위해 노력한다.

부회장은 학회장 부재시 회의를 주관한다. 부회장은 수입, 회비납부, 기록을 책임진다. 또한 매년 회원들에게 회원 자격과 재정 상태를 보고한다.

V. Duties of the Officers

A. The President shall be responsible for the overall administration of the Circle. He shall be alert to consider new activities which may promote the interests of the Circle. He shall call meetings and arrange for their program.

B. The Vice President shall assist the President in implementing various duties which the President may assign to him and making sustained efforts to increase membership and to establish liaison with scholars interested in Korean language and linguistics. He shall preside at the meetings in the absence of the President. The Vice President shall have charge of income, payments, and records. He shall report annually to the members of the Circle on the membership and financial status.

VI. 회의

회의는 아시아연구회와 연합하여 개최되거나 회원 다수의 편의에 따라 다른 시간과 장소에서 열릴 수 있다. 참석하지 못하는 회원은 부재중 투표를 할 수 있다.

VI. Meetings

A meeting may be held in conjunction with the Association of Asian Studies or at any other time and place convenient to the greatest numbers of members. Members who are unable to attend shall be allowed to vote by proxy.

VII. 개정

회칙은 모든 유효한 회원의 다수결 투표에 의해 수정될 수 있다.

VII. Amendments

The by-laws may be amended by the majority vote of all the members in good standing.

VIII. 임원단

학회의 임원단은 학회장이 새로 선출될 때마다 새로 구성된다. (1984년 7월 20일 수정)

VIII. Headquarters

The Headquarters of the Circle shall change with each change of the President. (Amended on July 20, 1984)
